lights

so i finished the cinematography workshop and i'm so happy that i was able to attend it. what next? i have to actually practice lighting techniques. i have to learn through experience.

so i have to ask people, cinematographers, if i can tag along during their shoots. or if i could even become an apprentice.

hmm...ewan ko. pakapalan na 'to ng mukha!

under the bridge

just shot and wrote a medical feature on a baby with hydrocephalus. the baby looked ok, his head wasn't as big as other stories i've made. the clincher with this story was that he lives with his family under a bridge in the Quiapo area.

this was the very first time that i went to a place where people lived under a bridge. i was just thankful that it wasn't smelly, so i was able to do the shoot. sorry, i can't think straight when something smells bad! maarte ako sa ganyan.

we weren't able to shoot in the room that they occupy - we couldn't fit. it would have been me, the mom carrying the baby and the cameraman. and to get into the room you'd have to stoop low and kind of crawl towards the room that was at the end of a hallway. instead the cameraman shot the family inside the room.

luckily there was an area by the creek (estero) that we could do the interview, the bridge was behind us. i did a spiel because i know that doing it there would have more impact than just doing a voice over.

all i can say is wow...you can watch the news or a program about people living in those areas, but it really is so different to actually go there and see it.

chicksmart

even though i resigned from NMI, they have asked me to do some segments for them. i think i've done one segment a month for them since march. so i've still been able to see them and keep in touch :-)

right now i'm doing chicksmart for them - the finale of chicksmart. coz groupee tv is going off the air! binky asked me to do it coz she has to prepare for the new show that NMI is going to produce and she's pressed for time.

so i'm suppose to put together the finale by presenting the top chicksmart topics. but this time i have to interview artistas and get their opinion and advice. right now i'm at NMI waiting for the crew to go to SOP and get those sound bites. ack! artistas! i had to ask eyron for help coz he knows how to handle them and get them to go on-cam!

i can't believe it. another final episode for a show i've worked on. for a show that i helped conceptualize. for a show that i lost sleep and my mind over! hhaaayyy...

...

it's been a while since i last posted an entry...

major things that have happened? well i joined a production management seminar that was held at mowelfund. that was really informative, i learned the roles of the production crew (among other things). coz even if i've been working in the industry for more or less four years, i don't quite understand what everyone is suppose to do! i've been winging it or learning through experience!

i haven't been doing much for Bantay Bata, since my shoots were completed in the early part of may, i've only had to write scripts and record the voice overs.

right now i'm in the middle of a digital cinematography workshop at UP. i am learning so much! like how to handle a camera, what are the different equipments used. but more on the technique, like how the tone (blacks and whites of the picture) is important. in a nut shell, your whites shouldn't be too white and if you adjust that the rest of the picture will be good. and not only the tone but you have to be careful with the color too, always do a white balance. so far it's been theoretical, next week we'll begin using the equipment and learn how to light a set. i'm excited!

oh and an old friend's wedding is coming up. I'm going to be a bridesmaid for michelle's wedding. my third time? hmm...how do i feel about it? wala lang, happy that michelle found someone! coz when i told a former officemate about it she thought i was feeling anxious about it since i'm not in a relationship. but for me it's more like i can't believe i'm at the age that my friends are getting married already! i can't imagine tying the knot!

well what's nice with this event coming up is that me, raquel and michelle (minus monica coz she's in the states) have made an effort to see each other and catch up. usually it's just me and raquel that meet. we've been friends since 2nd year high school, though i became friends with michelle in 6th grade. wow that's more than 10 years...

i also went out with wanggo, for the first time he mixed friends! he intro'd me to 2 of his college friends - Lance and DC. that was fun and different! because those two guys were straight guys! haha it was fun to be exposed to their kind of humor and i was laughing most of the time. :-)

what else? that's it for things that have happened to me!
